Breif introduction:

The function of bearing's front end cover / end cap and back ring is to fasten the inner ring of the bearing so that the bearing will not move under the action of axial force during the operation of the bearing. As vulnerable and consumable parts of railway freight cars, one set car consumes 8 sets front cover and back ring.

Application:

Most of the railway freight cars adopt rolling bearing for the bogie axles. Bogie is the running part of railway vehicle, which plays the role of supporting the car body and transmitting the dynamic load between the car body and wheel set in operation. Adapter is installed between the bogie side frame and the axle. During operation, the outer ring of the bearing and the adapter are in a relatively static state, and the front cover and back ring of the bearing are in a rotating state. The adapter of China K6 bogie falls on the outer ring of the bearing, and the thrust shoulder will be located above the front cover and rear block of the bearing respectively. Once the clearance between the thrust shoulder of the bearing saddle and the front cover and back ring of the bearing becomes smaller or even contacts, it will inevitably cause abnormal friction and lead to hot shaft failure. In order to prevent the hot axle failure caused by the contact friction between the adapter and the front cover and back ring of the bearing during the operation of the vehicle, it is stipulated in the regulations for factory repair and depot repair of railway freight cars that after the completion of the bogie, a 2mm sample plate shall be used to detect the matching gap between the inner diameter of the thrust shoulder of adapter and the outer diameter of the front cover and the outer diameter of the back ring. All the samples shall pass through, and the gap must not be less than 2mm. Once the clearance is abnormal and the installation problem is eliminated, the worn front cover, back ring and other accessories shall be replaced in time.
