JC type double acting constant contact and elastic side bearing is composed of elastic side bearing body, side bearing wear plate, side bearing seat, roller, roller shaft, adjusting pad, gasket and other parts.JC side bearing is used for K2 and k6 bogies and is widely applied for C70, C80B and other general railway freight car models.

How side bearing works?

JC double acting constant contact side bearing and elastic side bearing limits the maximum deflection of the side bearing (the maximum deflection is equal to the sum of working deflection and reserve deflection). Working deflection refers to the compression of the side bearing when the vehicle body is placed on the bogie. At this time, the gap between the friction surface of the upper side bearing and the lower side bearing roller can be regarded as the side bearing gap. This clearance is specially used for tilting the car body relative to the bogie when the truck passes through the curve. At the same time, the existence of rigid rollers not only limits the increase of the side rolling angle of the car body, but also does not increase the rotation resistance moment due to the rolling of the rollers, which affects the curve passing capacity. Therefore, the double acting constant contact side bearing and elastic side bearing plays the role of both constant contact elastic side bearing and gap side bearing, so it is called ‘double acting’.

 

With the improvement of the running speed of the freight car, it requires the use of constant contact side bearing to increase the rotation damping between the bogie and the car body, so as to effectively suppress the shaking and hunting movement of the bogie and the car body, restrain the rolling vibration of the car body, and improve the stability of the freight car at high speed. Because there is no gap and contact elasticity between the upper and lower side bearings, the rolling stability of the car body on the bogie is also increased. At the same time, rigid rollers are used to limit the compression of the elastic constant contact side bearing in order to prevent excessive inclination of the car body during curved operation of the truck. Once the upper side bearing plate is pressed against the roller, not only the vehicle body roll angle is limited, but also the rotation resistance moment will not be increased due to the rolling of the roller, which will affect the curve passing performance.
