1. Overview
The C70 type universal open wagon completed product drawing design, prototype vehicle trial production, static strength test, impact test and vehicle dynamic performance test in 2005, and was subsequently put into mass production.
2. Structural Introduction
The C70 type universal open wagon is mainly composed of the car body, bogies, coupler and buffer device, and braking device.
2.1 Car Body
The car body adopts an all-steel welded structure, consisting of underframe, side walls, end walls, side doors and lower side doors. All main section steels and plates of the car body are made of Q450NQR1 atmospheric corrosion-resistant steel with a yield strength of 450MPa.
The underframe is composed of end beams, center beams, side beams, sleeper beams, large cross beams and longitudinal beams. The side wall mainly consists of upper side beams, side columns, inner reinforcing seats for side columns, side plates, diagonal braces, connecting irons and side column reinforcing plates. The end wall is mainly composed of upper end beams, horizontal strips, end plates and corner columns.

2.2 Bogie
The wagon is equipped with either Type K5 or Type K6 bogies.
The Type K5 bogie mainly comprises side frames, bolsters, guide frame swinging seats, swinging seat supports, swing mechanisms (including spring brackets and bolster springs), wheel sets, foundation braking devices and damping systems.
The Type K6 bogie is mainly composed of side frames, bolsters, cross bracing rods, wheel sets, foundation braking devices and damping systems.
2.3 Braking Device
The air braking system is applicable to brake pipe pressures of 500kPa and 600kPa. It is mainly equipped with a Type 120 control valve, an integral spin-sealed brake cylinder with a specification of 305×254mm, an ST2-250 bidirectional automatic brake shoe clearance adjuster, a KZW-A automatic empty-load weight adjusting device, and an automatic freight car derailment braking device.
Supporting accessories include ball core angle cocks, combined dust collectors, braided brake hose assemblies, flange joints, austempered ductile iron (ADI) bushings and matching round pins. An NSW type hand brake is adopted for manual braking.
2.4 Coupler and Buffer Device
The wagon is fitted with a Type 17 coupler and a matching MT-2 buffer.
